ENG 110 – Foundations of Industrial Refrigeration

Start here. Everything else builds on this.

Introduces refrigeration fundamentals commonly applied in industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.

Overview

ENG 110 introduces the fundamental principles that govern industrial refrigeration systems. Students explore refrigerant properties and learn how energy moves through the vapor‑compression cycle.

Using Pressure–Enthalpy (P–E) charts, students visualize refrigerant behavior through compressors, condensers, expansion devices, and evaporators.
